A photograph is an instrument of love and revelation that must see beneath the surfaces and record the qualities of nature and humanity which live in all things. - Ansel Adams
I recently had the pleasure of taking some senior pictures for a lovely girl named Jasmin who goes to the High School I graduated from. Here are the favorites that we narrowed the shots down to.
This is a photograph I've been working on for many years, trying to find a style of editing that I liked with the content, and I think I've got it. This was a set of flags that were waving in the New York harbor during March of 2007. I've played with this photograph off and on for the last three years, but I enjoy this version the best.
I sat and thought about it for a long time, and decided that basically all of Boise is a manufactured landscape, and that I didn't really want to photograph any of Boise for the assignment, but couldn't think of anything I really did want to photograph. About that time my dwarf hamster Stella popped into her wheel and started running. And it made me think: her entire life is manufactured. She will never know anything but her cage and the things I give her. And it was perfect for the assignment.
These are the projects I worked on during my digital photography class last semester. They're not that great, but I managed to get a lot better and learn a good deal in the class, and have a little fun, too.
As with all the pictures on the website you can click on these and see them larger, which many of them look better in a bigger format.
